 2023 Preview 


       St. Luke's completed the 2022 season with a 4-7 record. With their 3-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 2A region one, the Wildcats earned a spot in the playoffs in 2022. St. Luke's's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to G.W. Long by a score of 19-16.

       St. Luke's was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Wildcats want to be competitive. They only averaged 16.3 points a game.

       Since 2010, St. Luke's has gone a combined 62-75. Their 45.3% winning percentage ranks 33rd in Class 2A over the past thirteen seasons.

       Over the past 13 seasons, St. Luke's has managed to compile a record of 62-75. Their 45.0% winning percentage ranks 33rd in Class 2A and 238th in the AHSAA.




       The Wildcats are led by head coach Ronn Lee who is entering his ninth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 36-50 over the past eight seasons at St. Luke's. Under his direction the Wildcats have qualified for the playoffs a total of four times. They have won two region crowns with Coach Lee. His 132 wins rank 44th among active coaches in the AHSAA. Over the course of his career, Coach Lee's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of thirteen times and won three region championships.

       The Wildcats could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region one this season with a few breaks and a little improvement.

       The Wildcats open the 2023 season at home against non-region opponent Fruitdale on Friday, August 25 at West Mobile Park. Last year the Fruitdale Pirates finished with an overall record of 2-8 and in sixth place in Class 1A region one. The Pirates closed out the regular season with a loss to Orange Beach by a score of 31-16.

       St. Luke's and Fruitdale have met a total of 9 times on the football field. The Wildcats have a 7-2-0 record against the Pirates. They last met in 2021 with St. Luke's winning by a score of 35-8.
